| Virgin Pays for Incoming Calls - Youths go Virgin!!! |
|
It was in 2003 when incoming calls became free with the launch of Reliance Infocomm. In 2008, with the launch of Virgin Mobile in India, incoming calls are not just FREE but you get paid to receive the same :-)
Virgin Mobile India became the first company to pay Rs 0.10 per minute for reciving calls. The call can originate from any network in the world, as long as you receive on your Virgin mobile, you receive the credit which can be used to make outgoing calls, SMS or Value Added Services.
This plan is mostly targeted at the Indian youth where the boy usually gets his girl friend's number recharged in the pre-paid scheme. However, if he is willing to go for a Tata Indicom post-paid connection, a top-up scheme offers free unlimited calling to one number, then all he needs to do is pay his own bills as he recharges his gal in several different ways while he talks ;-)
Does anybody know on who holds the patents for crediting money for Incoming calls ? |

| Vodafone ordered to refund unsolicited VAS charges |
|
It is not uncommon to see Value Added Services [VAS] charges on your post-paid mobile bill or see your friend complain lot of times that Rs 30 got deducted from his pre-paid currency. All these are unsolicited acts of mobile service providers and Vodafone is the first victim.
TRAI has ordered Vodafone India to refund charges on such unsolicited acts to customers within 15 days. Most of such things are taken up by TRAI for investigation after complaints from customers and active bloggers. TRAI then begins the investigation and if needed asks for the entire system audit. TRAI said,
We have been corresponding with Vodafone for a long time and the service provider admitted to a technical error. Based on Vodafone's explanation it cannot be concluded that the value added service was provided with explicit consent of the consumers, especially when consumers have denied having given any such consent.
Reliance Communications is another company activating Caller Tunes without customers consent. Bharti Airtel activated subsidized ISD calling [1/4th the prevailing rate] and withdrew it without informing the customer. |

| 100,000 iPhone SDKs downloads in 4 days |
|
Apple's killer product iPhone, which is probably the best selling premium range phone ever in the history of mobile handsets is now open to any Developer around the world. The SDK attracted more than 100,000 downloads in just 4 days. This surely a shot in the arm of Nokia, a lethargic finish company with bulky handsets with literally no innovations.
Also if you are a Mobile Developer, then you must download this SDK and start building some cool application. [Note the Download is 2.1 Gig, try your best using Torrents] Also, Silicon Valley's most successful Venture Capitalist, John Doerr has announced a $100 million iFund to startups developing on the iPhone platform.Labels: iPhone-venture-capital-fund |
